Kemal Soydere, a young mining engineer from a modest family, falls in love with Nihan Sezin, a talented artist raised in a wealthy Istanbul household. Despite their different backgrounds, they share a love that seems strong enough to overcome anything.

But family pressures, hidden secrets, and the obsessive love of Emir Kozcuoğlu force them apart. Kemal leaves Istanbul, while Nihan marries Emir under circumstances she cannot reveal.

Five years later, Kemal returns as a successful businessman, determined to confront the past. His reunion with Nihan brings back feelings neither has forgotten, but their love is once again threatened by jealousy, betrayal, and difficult choices.

In 2017, Kara Sevda made television history as the first Turkish production to win the International Emmy Award for Best Telenovela.
